About Lake Manyara

Lake Manyara National Park

This lake is one of the Great Rift Valley’s numerous alkaline lakes. Lake Manyara plays host to thousands of Pink Flamingo as well as a diversity of other birdlife. Lake Manyara’s other main attractions apart from its rich birdlife is its Tree Climbing Lion, Leopard, the Nocturnal Aardvark, Elephant, Hippo, as well as numerous species of plains game.

Lake Manyara is located 130 km from Arusha; close enough to arrange day trips. The optimal time to visit the park is June to September or January to February, during the dry season.

Not only does this park provide sanctuary to the amazing animals mentioned above, it also boasts an amazing diversity of habitats including rift wall, ground water forests, acacia woodlands, open grasslands, the lake shore and the lake itself.

Bird lovers, animal watchers and naturalists will all enjoy the variety provided by Lake Manyara.
